Job Summary

Cosmic AES is looking for a Software Engineer to support the development and testing of a signal processing and geolocation system for the DOD. The position will involve developing, testing, and integrating into software architecture capabilities.  This position can include backend software development along with program testing and documentation.  Position will require a working knowledge of system design and agile development processes for hardware and software intensive development.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work with other engineers and with customers to perform requirements analysis/design tradeoffs and develop solutions in accordance with system/product architectures.
  • Contribute to the implementation of core software components to interface with hardware, implement backend logic, and perform signal processing functions
  • Support software engineering development to translate algorithm prototypes into optimized, production-quality code suitable for operational deployment
  • Contribute to the development of design documentation and other documentation artifacts
  • Help win customer confidence through integrity, technical competency, effective communications, problem solving, and capability demonstrations

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be a self-starter and able to work closely in a fast paced, small engineering team which includes other software engineers, DSP engineers, hardware engineers, systems engineers, and test engineers.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance (which requires US citizenship)
  • Education and/or background in software development and software engineering
  • Proficiency implementing software and algorithms in a framework such as Python, C, or C++
  • Familiarity and experience with Linux operating systems
  • Team player and capable of working in a fast-pasted, team environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with front-end web development and frameworks such as Node, Angular, jQuery, Django, etc.
  • Experience with database design and programming using PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.
  • Experience with UAS systems
  • Satellite communications, digital signal processing (DSP), Software Defined Radios (SDR), GNURadio, or communications experience
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
