Job Summary

The SA is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of system hardware, software, firmware and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. The SA ensures that system hardware, software, operating systems and related procedures are maintained according to organizationally develop policy as approved by the AO through the ISSM.  This individual will assist with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases of standard projects.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Performs all hardware/software/firmware installation, troubleshooting and upgrades
  • Creates accounts based on account request documentation provided by the ISSM/O
  • Creates/modifies system folder structure based on data owner request
  • Monitors accounts for inactivity and reports to ISSM/O
  • Assists users with initial configuration of accounts
  • Creates/modifies/deletes security groups, as required, to ensure the systems’ active directory structure and file structure is maintained according to established policy
  • Coordinates all equipment moves with the ISSM/O
  • Reports all information system violations of corporate policies to the ISSM/O
  • Performs backups of essential data, per established system backup protocol
  • Performs antivirus/software update and patch management per ISSM/O direction
  • Configures systems to comply with the current STIG per established guidance
  • Secures the audit repository from general users, makes accessible to auditors only
  • Ensures the audit repository is included in the weekly backup
  • Ensures network/workstation is connected to an NTP server/time is verified weekly
  • Maintains a maintenance record log performed for each system
  • Installs new/rebuild/existing servers and configures hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. according to standards and requirements
  • Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures
  • Performs daily system monitoring verifying the integrity and availability of all resources, systems and key processes and verifying scheduled tasks
  • Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration, providing SME review for the configuration change board

Qualifications and Skills

  • US Citizenship
  • Current/Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • BS in Information Technology, Computer Science
  • Extensive experience with computer networks to include Microsoft Windows and Linux based operating systems, VMware experience and knowledge of network infrastructure and related protocols
  • Certification level to meet DOD Directive 8570.01-M IAT II requirements
  • Knowledge of current RMF, supporting NIST standards, and DoD STIG hardening
  • 4 to 6 years SA experience in a TS/SCI environment supporting a government customer
