Cosmic Advanced Engineered Solutions (Cosmic AES) is a small innovative company tackling the most difficult technical challenges in signals, space, and cyberspace. We design and develop high-end signal processing solutions for Department of Defense(DoD) in the Counter-Space, Special Operations, Homeland Security, and other specialized mission areas. Our strong team of scientists, engineers, and operations experts specialize in exploring emerging technologies, system development, and rapid prototyping to solve the most difficult national security concerns.
Cosmic AES is looking for a Signal Software Engineer to support Department of Defense (DoD) customers. The Signals Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances signal processing software (e.g. detectors, demodulators, protocol processors). The candidates primary responsibilities include: designing, developing, maintaining, integration of signal processing algorithms, analysis of signals/networking protocols, and testing.
Responsibilities and Duties
Lead in the implementation of core software components to interface with hardware, implement backend logic, and perform signal processing functions
Translate algorithm prototypes into optimized, production-quality code suitable for operational deployment
Utilize software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
Provide specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development
Requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components
Contribute to the development of design documentation and other documentation artifacts
Review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and document test results
Resolve software problem/deficiency reports
Active communication and participation in the full SDLC leveraging Agile methodologies.
Mentor and guide junior engineers
Qualifications and Skills
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance
BS or MS Degree in CS, CE, or EE with software emphasis and relevant work experience
Experience with object-oriented software development (e.g., C++, Java, and Python)
Experience in software design, engineering, and development skills, including familiarity with modern software development practices and tools
Strong understanding of Linux (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu) platform development
Proficient in building, testing, and debugging software applications
Experience writing and delivering technical documents and briefings
Experience with Signals/Protocol Analysis including: signal identification, digital modulation/demodulation, error correction, and signaling/networking protocols
Develop software solutions that can be easily tailored to Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government off-the-Shelf (GOTS) systems
Technical curiosity, flexibility, and a desire to expand your skill set into new areas
Demonstrated cultural and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all teams, areas, and levels of business
Self-motivated and independent with a passion for change and ongoing improvement
Critical thinker with sound judgment for complex problem solving and decision making
Experience with Agile Methodologies
Candidates with current SSBI security clearance preferred
